EDUSC Welcomes the Rev. Sonia Sullivan Clifton to St. Alban's, Lexington
Sonia Sullivan Clifton grew up as an Episcopalian in Georgia and was heavily involved with youth activities in her parish and the diocese, particularly Happening and summer camps. Following her ordination in 1993, she served as Diocesan Youth Coordinator for the Diocese of Georgia, as Vicar to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Swainsboro, GA and the Episcopal Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Louisville, GA, and finally as Rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Orlando, Florida.
During her time serving parishes, she also began work in Episcopal schools. She served as Chaplain at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, Florida and at Canterbury School of Florida (part of St. Thomas' Church in St. Petersburg). The Rev. Sullivan Clifton currently serves as Chaplain and Chair of Religious Life at Episcopal Day School (part of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta, GA) and is on the staff of Good Shepherd.
The Rev. Sullivan Clifton is married to the Rev. Steve Clifton, who serves two parishes in the Diocese of Georgia. They share two grown children, Christopher and Catherine. She is excited to share the Gospel through building genuine relationships and working together with the people of St. Alban's.
The Rev. Sullivan Clifton begins her tenure at St. Alban's in January 2025.
