Diocesan House Staff Change to Support Youth Ministries and Congregational Vitality
In order to better strive for our common goal of Making, Equipping, and Sending Mature Disciples of Christ, Bishop Waldo today announces the appointment of Katelyn Kenney as Missioner for Christian Formation, Congregational Vitality, and Missional Communities.
In coordination with the Canon for Christian Formation, Congregational Vitality, and Missional Communities, Katelyn will support and resource the ministries of the Commissions for Congregations, Ministry, and Formation. In particular, Katelyn will work closely with the Diocesan Youth Leadership Committee (DYLC) on the design, logistics, and implementation of diocesan children and youth programming. She will also take on the role as the Safe Guarding God’s People and lay licensure coordinator for the diocese, and will work with our Director of Communications to help coordinate communications efforts with youth and young adults around the diocese.
Katelyn is a lifelong Episcopalian from Pearland, Texas, who spent much of her free time in junior high and high school participating in her church youth group. Attending and serving at mission trips, diocesan youth events, and summer camp were some of her favorite things to do in those years, and she is excited to continue that work in a new way for youth in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina in this missioner position.
She has spent the past two years as the Julia Chester Emery intern for the United Thank Offering, a long-standing Episcopal Church ministry that funds creative ideas across the Anglican Communion. In the first year of her internship she worked with the leadership team of Missional Voices, an organization facilitating conversation around innovative faith communities, while participating in the Texas Episcopal Service Corps. This past year she worked in Washington, DC, with the Episcopal Church Office of Government Relations. Katelyn graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and a minor in leadership studies.
Beginning June 1 you can contact Katelyn at [email protected].
